TWR 2016 Best of the Best Award for Best Merino Base Layer

****

The Best of the Best: Lightweight

PEP (Pettet Endurance Project) The Bristow 210/gsm 18.5 micron

The PEP BRISTOW

Bristow
The TWR 2016 Best of the Best Lightweight Base Layer

The BRISTOW by PEP is an exciting and comfortable lightweight top.  It competes directly with the juggernaut Icebreaker lightweight line of merino wool base layer, and earns this years Best of the Best TWR gold star for its aggressive pricing, energized styling, and flattering design.  We were impressed with the versatility of this top, as well as its stylish pleated cap sleeve and raglan cut.

The Best of the Best: Mid-Weight

WoolPro The Scout 195g 1/4 zip

The WoolPRO Scout

WoolPRO Scout
The TWR 2016 Best of the Best Mid-Weight Base Layer

The WoolPro Scout (100% Merino Wool Base Layer, 1/4 Zip, 195gr midweight), was consistently good to excellent across all of our categories, and the price simply cannot be beat.  The fit is athletic but not uncomfortable, and the Activeseam Stitch is both innovative and a dramatic improvement over the more common flatlock seam.  Depending on color, this shirt can be found between $59-85, and is an awesome value.  The Scout receives our TWR 2016 gold star.
