The Best ValuePEP (Pettet Endurance Project) The Bristow |
The Bristow is a comfortable and exciting entrant into the lightweight category. It is not a technical running piece, but is certainly a competent top for jogging, pilates, and yoga. The 210gsm spec, energized design, and aggressive price make this a stylish competitor in the lightweight category. |
Editor's ChoiceIbex Woolies 150 Scoop Top
|
The Woolie Scoop is great. Expensive, but chic and well designed. The deep cut neck is comfortable while hugging the body as a form fitting baselayer. Our only critique was that the depth of the neck cut made this potentially awkward with mid-layer tops. |
Mid-Weight Base Layer
The Best Mid-Weight TopSmartwool Women's mid weight pattern crew |
The mid weight pattern crew is everything you want in a basic mid layer. It is warm but not hot during exercise. It has a very comfortable form fit. It is slightly expensive in the category, but not as pricey as some comprable garments. And, we loved the flattering stripe design.

The Best ValueIcebreaker Carve Long Sleeve Hoodie |
The Icebreaker Carve is a full zip hoodie mid-layer that we found for less than $150! It has a great fit and style, and the full zip makes it work well as both an layer or external wear piece. The thumb holes and drop tail are well shaped, and the hoop has an very comfortable profile. |
Editor's ChoiceWoolPro Scout 1/4 Zip |
WoolPro Scout fits a number of our important categories: comfort, quality, price, and innovative styling. We were very impressed with the athletic fit, and the price ($59.99) is $20-$40 less than competitive mid layers!
